The dancer, Antonie Svobodová, and the musician and improvisation artist, Anna Vanicková, have been working together for the past five years, either as a duo or with guests. Improvisation is the basis of all their performances, which are inspired by the relationship between music, dance, voice, the body, space and objects.

Dance Music Performance

In Fantova Kavarna, once an old art nouveau café, first class restaurant and now a café at Prague Central Station, S & V have performed twenty-four times over the past three years. Each performance was different, although music, dance and song were always the fundamental components. Potsdam isn`t Prague and yet they nonetheless attempt to relocate the idea underlying the series of performances to the arcades of Potsdam Central Station. It isn`t a clash between the past and the modern that is achieved in this setting but rather the interplay of various everyday elements and artistic intervention in accordance with the characteristics of this particular public space: like the café in Prague, this is a place with an illustrious public: travellers, pedestrians, tourists, dreamers, buyers and sellers, a place at which improvisation theatre and the theatricality of life engage to produce something else, albeit with an uncertain outcome.
