Company
Ananda Puijk completed her training in physical theatre at De Kleine Academie in Brussels in 2003. Her dramatic form combines physical theatre and puppetry. Her works are non-verbal, whereby the music composed specially for each piece plays an important role.
Performance
A female figure is crouched in a small room. Benevolent visions and memories are brutally driven away by delusions and phantasms. Walls begin to shed their skins like snakes, fabrics and pieces of clothing develop a life of their own, occupy the room and attack the body. Heads loom through the window as if they had come from the netherworld to find a torso. Confronted by these wild, menacing spectres, the figure is thrown back on herself. She develops an inner strength to defend her freedom and intimacy, and searches for ways of reconciling her inner world with the world outside.
