»Bitter Fools« Theatrical Concert
German Première
If Thomas Bernhard portrays culture as a garbage dump, a site for the proliferation of music and art, then this theatrical concert might also be called « The City, Death and Music ». Obscure objects, worn-out materials and unique instruments are elicited from the latter. Weird wonders of sound tell of comic memories which are filled with a poetry of disintegration: of outsiders, tramps, displaced acrobats, human dummies, virtuoso exhibitionists, bordering on homesickness yet worlds away, between a fairground booth, a grotty variety show and a poor person’s circus; with Kantor and Fellini ever present in the VIP box.
