Object theatre, 50 minutes, nonverbal
A table, a man, a cup of tea. The tea ceremony resembles a miniature circus in which the sacred order of kettle, cup, spoon, knife, sugar cubes and matches gradually slides out of control. Treading a thin line between object theatre and clownery, Vu is the story of an obsessive-pedantic man, peevish and painstaking and the exact opposite of modern everyday hyperactivity. This master of the tea ceremony pays scrupulous attention to everyday objects, and, by using them in ways that do not fit their purpose, makes them appear recalcitrant and close to madness.
In 2003, Cie Sacékripa was founded by five professional circus artists who met during their two-year training at Le Lido, Centre des Arts du Cirque de Toulouse. Since then, the company has performed at numerous festivals in France and throughout Europe with various projects. Etienne Manceau is one of the five founding members, who gets to the heart of everyday matters with his solo performance in a ruthless and rigorous way.
