Multimedia short performance for one spectator
Company
OXIMORON has existed since 2010 and is the result of a long-standing working relationship between the film-maker Aaref Al-Basha and the graphic designer and photographer Mateo Fumero. This is the backdrop against which their works emerge, a blend of graphic or graffiti performance, video and installation.
Performance
Sitting on a vehicle - a cross between an old barber’s and a film director’s chair – the spectator is turned into an inventor and observer of his own genesis. A crank allows him to revolve full circle. At the same time, a special optical apparatus offers him unexpected insights into surreal landscapes: such as people who live inside fingers, for example, or who are pressed between colourful microscopic slides. Like a pilot, the spectator circles above a changing miniature world of moving images, objects and elements that he can manipulate by determining his ‘travelling speed’ using the crank. In this process, feeling for space and time is lost, as well as whether what is being seen is part of one’s own imagination or reality..
