Getting stones to speak – in this object theatre chamber piece, everyday life in a prefab apartment block is the central motif. With concrete cubes – arranged in ever-changing variations – as well as recreated interiors, with views into ghost apartments and a narrative soundtrack, humorous anecdotes from the past are told from three neighbouring apartments of a ‘Plattenbau’. Thus, the modern housing dream in the former Eastern Bloc countries becomes a pre-apocalyptic industrial construction idyll and takes on an extremely fragile ordinariness.
Dominik Migač, actor at the Lampion Theatre Kladno, and Jakub Maksymov, artistic director of the Puppet Theatre Ostrava, met during their studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre. After finishing their studies, they developed the performance piece Prefaby together, which has won numerous prizes at international festivals. Part of their artistic concept is creating an atmosphere of intimacy between the actors and their audience.
