(Amersfoort/The Netherlands)
Movement Theatre with Puppets
Company
In 2005, after years of working creatively in India and Japan, the Brasilian dancer and puppeteer Duda Paiva founded the company that carries his name. The company quickly became world renowned for its mix of puppet theatre and modern dance, and is considered as one of the most innovative Dutch theatre companies today.
Performance
Two doctors. A strange hybrid being lies on the operating table. As the vivisection begins, the being’s limbs start taking on a life of their own. The experiment gets out of control. New mythical creatures and figure collages emerge. Change as an expression of self-assertion, of resistance and strength. Using a mix of dance, puppet and object theatre, this small poetic horror show draws upon classic fairy tales, as well as the myth of Frankenstein: the creation of the monster in search of love.
