Puppets die better!

Lecture Performance, 75 min
Why is Punch immortal? Why does
the Crocodile eat rubber puppets? Why don’t puppets suffer from
depression? In which of their limbs does time dwell, and who is pulling
their strings? And lastly: how human do puppets need to be and who
breathes life into whom? This is a show full of fundamental questions
about the puppet’s existence and the impossibility of human existence. A
search for the living in objects without souls and those believed to be
dead. In this exploration of matter, which looks into the small deaths
of puppets, figures and objects – as well as their reanimation – a
gentle breath brings things to life, time is chased and death reflects
on dying.
Florian Feisel,
one of the most important German representatives of experimental
puppetry, has enjoyed success with his own ensemble BABELFISH as well as
with the puppet theatre Wilde & Vogel and the Compagnie Warner
& Consorten. Since 2012 he has been teaching puppetry at the Academy
of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart.
