Qualcosa da Sala
Francesca Proia/Danilo Conti
Ravenna/Italy
Solo Dance Performance
Company
Puppeteers and dancers Danilo Conti and Francesca Proia, whose background lies in Butoh and Yoga, know each other from the many years they both spent working for Tanti Cosi Progetti. Their collaboration is more or less a special project. Throughout her career Proia has gone on excursions to other companies including Romeo Castellucci’s Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio.
Performance
We all know it only too well – the screeching of birds in Hitchcock’s eponymous film for which Oskar Sala (1910-2002) an extreme musical form of isolation, panic, vulnerability and loneliness played on the trautonium. In this instance, we see a woman bearing an archaic mask veritably saturated with the vibrations of Sala’s sounds. At once intimate and expressive, at times almost mystical, her dance conveys an inexplicable sense of danger.
