SOMATIC TRATATA – rhythm, rapture and romance
Hannah Shakti Bühler & Simon Mayer
Germany/Austria
Dance performance, 50 minutes, songs in English. No admission for young people under 18.
Two bodies between play, combat, and communication. Breath, voice, and motion are the key elements. SOMATIC TRATATA is a performative ritual that combines dance and live music. A repetitive rhythm, inspired by the southern Italian tradition of Tarantism, puts the dancing duo into a kind of trance. Their interpersonal space becomes the playing field upon which body, mind and soul flow into one another and are explored afresh. Two bodies testing their boundaries by challenging couple stereotypes in the context of the tradition and folk culture of the southern Italian and Alpine regions.
Born in Germany and raised in Italy, Hannah Shakti Bühler studied contemporary dance at Trinity Laban College in London. In 2015 she completed her master’s degree in contemporary dance education and has been a professor of contemporary dance in the dance department of the HfMDK in Frankfurt am Main since September 2018. Simon Mayer, born in Austria, is a choreographer, musician and performer. He studied at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School and at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. His choreographic repertoire includes plays as well as socially-engaged and immersive performances such as SunBengSitting
and Being Moved, which he showed at Unidram 2022.
