Company
KOMPÁNIA is a widespread global network of artists from different fields who frequently initiate music projects. Its most recent focus has been on the theatre and music traditions of the Far East. This was followed by co-productions with ensembles from Thailand, India and South Korea.
Performance
Nail wigs to heads and play Mikado on naked, prostrate women! These bizarre acting directions are followed by a nine-person orchestra on a catwalk made of wooden crates: they stumble and lose their way, but they are infinitely glamorous. With a large selection of instruments – from singing glasses to the viola da gamba – and a mix of styles made up of folk, baroque and ambient, as well as frantic singing and dancing numbers, the meaning and nonsense of everyday gestures and rituals is revealed. At the same time, with tragicomic doggedness the secret private life of objects and sounds is allotted a fitting space in between chamber opera, revue and video performance.
