“Looking back with foresight – you’re always wiser with hindsight” is the premise here. Kraut_produktion invites its audience to join in a utopian cathartic get-together, that aims to find out if art can help us discover a healing remedy against the end of the world. The Anthropocene is set somewhere between an epic-fail show, mischievous dressage spectacle, exuberant party, pop-church service and politically correct shopping experience. The maxim is: ‘It’s time for irrational artistic counter measures!’ And nobody really comes off well, neither the idealistic do-gooders nor climate activists nor the Prosecco being splashed around.
For kraut_produktion, theatre is a live act in which the audience and production members are equally immersed in the immediate experience. Since its founding in 2000 the ensemble has produced a series of bold and polarising performances defined by its tremendous atmospheric density and uncompromising attitude towards the material. The plays resulting from this process are often radical and provocative. They call on the audience to actively engage with the stage action – a balancing act that inspires and divides the audience.
