Performance
Crunching and squeaking – a dancer in a skin-tight, silver-grey latex dress presents steps and movements between flamenco, expressive dance and disco. But the hem of her dress is fixed to the floor. She can keep her balance only because she is tied by her hair to a counter-weight: an electrical sewing machine hanging from a wire rope rhythmically lifting and lowering. Latex is a danced study of materials and a strange tensile test in the battle against physics. Not only is a very unconventional costume being strained and tested, but also the correlations between the flexibility of the human being and the movability of material, under very restricted circumstances.
