Veering away from the predictable sounds of ethno jazz, the Lebanese-German quartet explores new territory and interweaves Arabic verse and contemporary jazz. The result is an impressive lyrical synthesis that spans the divide between East and West. Masaa was awarded the Bremer Jazz Prize in 2012 and the German world music prize Förder-RUTH in 2015.
