Windscapes
Olga Kumeger & Tilmann Dehnhard
Russla/Germany
Multimedia music performance
Company
Olga Kumeger (video painting and projection) and Tilmann Dehnhard (bass flute and electronic instruments) collaborate here for the first time. Olga Kumeger's work is grounded in interdisciplinary studies of new computer technology and theatre performance. Computer graphics and interactive video art are the basis of her work, together with music, dance, space, object/sculpture.
Performance
No other instrument seems more apt to explore the spectre of sound and forces of wind than the flute. An enormous bass flute, very rarely played but played live and electronically alienated here, provides the soundtrack to a stream of images which is seemingly formed by the wind. Wind compositions, wind traces and drifts between harmony and destruction transformed into computer graphics, animations and projection techniques are telling a possible history of the wind, surrounded by at times expressive, at times meditative sounds.
