Papiertheater INVISIUS
Berlin/Germany
Miniature Theater after Bram Stoker
Company
Papiertheater Invisius was founded in 1983 in the tradition of Biedermeier family theatre. These days it plays with that tradition, showing a modern form of picture theatre in which music almost always plays a leading role. The company’s repertoire includes well known fairytales, literary adaptations and operas.
Performance
There’s not a drop of blood to be seen, but Transsylvania is gloomier than ever and the sun keeps rising inexorably! Even if only the first act is played, there are plenty of coffins being shoved back and forth within dark graves: a puzzle of cruelty and eroticism, love, friendship and fatal dependence is staged en miniature with paper figures and film sequences. And the misdeeds of the greatest of all vampires are accompanied on the grand piano with a mixture of old silent movie and modern horror
