»Columbine’s Bridal Veil« (Multimedia Performance)
based on a pantomime by Arthur Schnitzler
German Première
Illusions and metamorphoses on celluloid, what is revealed is quickly enshrouded again. What power do women hold over men? Realities between yesterday and today, silhouettes, close-ups of moving bodies, hands and faces. It is as though one were staring straight into the sorrowful eyes of Baptiste – the pantomime artist in Carne’s film classic, „Les enfants du paradis – and as though one had all the time in the world to do so. Pierrot dances in the labyrinth! Indeed, he can turn any love affair into an unfortunate love triangle. The ever so eternal illusions and desires become a virtual game of time and role play, a game that works as a stand-in for the old characters of the Commedia dell’arte in the infinity of their artificial images. Je est un autre, but who might this other be?
