TART Produktion & theatertabs – Raum für vergängliche Kunst
Stuttgart/Germany
Play by Robert Atzlinger
Company
TART-Produktionen was founded in 1998. Their approach is characterised by works transgressing the boundaries between the visual and performing arts with artists from all different areas. Their recent collaboration with actor and playwright Robert Atzlinger, who founded theatertabs two years ago, testifies to the cross-disciplinary nature of their work.
Performance
A cathartic performance. The corrupt private policeman Kolb speaks in half-sentences and ellipses – his speech is hurried, fragmented, at times coarse jargon, at times an artificial linguistic composition. At his side is the archaic figure of a woman, her teeth painted blood red as an invocation of Pan, the god of shepherds. Her expressive vocalisations situate her somewhere between Diamanda Gallas and Meredith Monk. They pose as a commentary on Kolb’s activities, among them the surveillance of dubious fundamentalist environmentalists. From this juxtaposition arises an oppressive atmospheric fusion of sound and text on climate change which casts an anything but promising glance at the future.
