FRAME
Teatro Koreja
Italy
Visual theater, 65 min, nonverbal
A window, an emergency exit, an almost-closed curtain, a half-open door. The magic of real life. Intimate moments in which everything changes. FRAME is inspired by the paintings of Edward Hopper, which capture mundane, everyday moments in life: like short-story fragments inhabited by figures filled with longing, their eyes always seem to be seeking the light. Like an exhibition in which the paintings are shown one at a time, FRAME reveals the fractures and fissures of reality with stylistic ingenuity. Scenes of haunting emptiness unfold, out of which people emerge with an irresistible, almost radiant beauty and vitality.
Teatro Koreja was founded 32 years ago in Lecce, southern Italy, and its international dimension – with a particular focus on Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean – has always been a fundamental part of its artistic identity. Its productions are aimed at adults and children alike, and since 2015, Teatro Koreja has established itself as the only professional centre of theatrical production in Puglia.
