Image theatre
Company
Zaches Teatro’s work is a combination of various artistic forms: contemporary dance, expressive puppet theatre, masque and live electronics. White Pain is the second part of the Trilogy of Vision, a piece that delves into the works of Goya und Bacon and the mangas of Japanese artist Hokusai.
Performance
Lights flicker, birdlike people with gigantic beaks are joined at the hair like Siamese twins, shadow processions move from this world to kingdom come, bodies move, trance-like, until they become indefinable. Spatial boundaries blur, contract, expand, quiver and drone. White Pain investigates the meaning and origin of life, visualising a completely different reality. Its meditative concentration of set, image and sound seems to erupt from layers of myth, unleashing echoes from ancient times. As if in slow motion, it illustrates moments and turning points in human evolution.
A co-production with PiM OFF of Milan, Premio Prospettiva Danza Teatro 2010, Kilowatt Festival, Project Filigrane, University of Arezzo, Il Funaro Center of Pistoia.
