Multimedia object theatre, 40 min, nonverbal
A camera crosses a miniature model consisting of intimate and public places. The moments captured are staged images that show traces of past human activities; an inexplicably silent, abandoned world of simple interiors. An enigmatic visual universe that flickers between reality and science fiction, where past and present exist simultaneously, and personal memories collide with contemporary visual culture. As a living scenography, Bildraum is a walk-in photo album or an architectural stroll through imaginary spaces.
At Atelier Bildraum, architect Steve Salembier and photographer Charlotte Bouckaert work together on performances, installations and scenographic spaces. Together they create visual works with a strong live element, in which the audience creates stories and associations between static images. The play was awarded the Big-in-Belgium Prize by Theater Aan Zee (Ostend) in 2015 and the Total Theatre Award in Edinburgh in 2016. Atelier Bildraum is Artist in Residence at LOD muziektheater, a Ghent production company for opera and music theatre.
