TEATRON THEATER & figuren theater tübingen (Arnsberg/Jerusalem/Tübingen)
German and Israeli artists work together in „Teatron Theater. Formed in 1992, they work to combine classical performance with elements of visual theatre and the use of masks and figures. „figurentheater tübingen, in existence since 1991, complements traditional forms of puppet theatre with aspects of object and material theatre, as well as elements of performance, music and the plastic arts. Guest performances and directing commissions have taken them all over the world.

A circle of white cloths. Bony, fragile figures – the resurrected dead seeking attonement. A suitcase filled with sand. It buries the memory of a demented, perverted Scheherzarade: Wassermann the Jew must tell his torturer a story in order to be allowed to die. How can the past be reconstructed for the children’s children of the Holocaust survivors? Does the cruelty becomes a time loop for those who born after the event? Simple, poetic and with the courage of despair, this morbid fairytale spins a web of memories, fabrications and facts between yesterday and tomorrow, reality and dream, sorrow and laughter. The encounter between puppet and person is imbued with symbolism, unsentimental and sober, provoking disturbing and bewitching images of an unprecedented explosive force.
