Founded in St Petersburg in 1993, Teatr Novogo Fronta has been working in various constellations for over ten years in Prague. The interconnection of different forms of dance with other theatrical genres within their work makes their style unmistakable. Teatr Novogo Fronta has participated at UNIDRAM several times over the years.
Performance
Buenos Aires, 1974. Two actors from the Soviet Union have been refused the right to return to their homeland. They attempt to reestablish normality by performing theatre. Yet the street becomes a stage for political unrest. And a mysterious caller gives even greater cause for anxiety. Soon things get out of control. Our imagination begins to take a nosedive into the realm of dark visions, initiating a circean corporeal theatre which blurs the boundaries between modern dance, Butoh, clowning and pantomime. The tango as a major showdown: at times rawly expressive, at times tenderly comic, burlesque, unpredictable and with passionate pathos throughout.
