Nick Steur – a theatrical performer who graduated from the Theatre Academy in Maastricht – has an artistic approach that shows the most minimal changes in space and time. Although he is mainly perceived as a visual artist, Steur himself places great importance on the live aspect of his performances, and in particular the audience’s own perception of its presence.

Performance
Mass and gravity appear suspended when Nick Steur erects his stone constructions with meditative concentration. With his bare hands, he assembles stones on top of each other, transforming them into sculptures by balancing them with patience and a sense of the earth’s pull. The allure of the performance results from this tension and the audience’s astonshment as much as the weight of the material and the fragile beauty of Steur’s gradually ascending formations.
