UKW Band (Hamburg, Germany)
Concert
Balkan rhythms, Latin and African grooves as well as jazz impros, tango, waltz, Arab music and tarantella are elements of this nomadic music. Basque carnival songs blended with Swedish lullabies, the band doesn’t shy away from La Paloma or La Cumparsita from Billy Wilder's movie Some like it hot and also presents its interpretations of Bertolt Brecht and Wilhelm Busch. Music with a Mediterranean charm, absolutely danceable!
Ulrich Kodjo Wendt, the man who lent his name to the band, has composed a lot of film scores, amongst others for Fatih Akin's roadmovie In July. The title Hochzeit written for the comedy Kebab Connection is also part of their repertoire.
