Annuluk (Leipzig/Germany)
Concert
Annuluk’s slogan appears to be ‘contrast as principle’. The archaic vibrations of an Indian Shruti box collide with electronic samples, West African polyrhythms with Oriental influences and flamenco and jazz with distorted dub beats. Annuluk’s rousing strength is drawn from this wealth of sound and the voice of Miša, their front woman. Somewhere between the spirituality of world music and groove-loving post modernism, aficionados of Mari Boine and the Voix Bulgares will get their money’s worth, as will lovers of urban tracks in the style of Björk or Massive Attack.
